This municipality is located on the right side of the Tagliamento River, near Lake Cavazzo, the largest natural lake of glacial origin in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. Bordano, more commonly recognized as the "town of butterflies," offers the opportunity to visit its crowning achievement: the butterfly house. This represents a renowned environmental education center, where the tropical environments typical of that insect have been recreated and where it is possible to admire some of the most beautiful specimens in the world. Even the dwellings themselves in the village have been embellished with unique murals that give Bordano a priceless harmony and suggestiveness.
