INNOVATIVE AND SUSTAINABLE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN THE ALPS-ADRIA REGION
Since 2018, efforts have been made to establish trilateral cooperation between the Dobratsch Nature Park (AT), the Julian Pre-Alps Nature Park (IT) and the Triglav National Park (SI). This cross-border cooperation, with the aim of long-term institutionalised collaboration, links for the first time the three main language and cultural groups in Europe - Slavs, Romans and Germans.
The project addresses current common cross-border challenges and is structured as follows:
(1) Analysis - Analysis of cross-border visitor flows, identification of tourism hot and low points and development of joint targeted measures with the involvement of stakeholders.
(2) Exchange - Active awareness-raising on cultural treasures, further development of tourism in terms of sustainability and the value of nature without borders.
(3) Action - Joint pilot actions link theory and practice with the aim of preserving and permanently experiencing the history and culture and natural treasures of the cross-border region.
The close collaboration and cooperation between tourism and nature parks in the Alps-Adriatic region and the area of the three project borders is a novelty.
