Around the Fusine Lakes
A first glimpse
Some impressions of the tour
Directions
After a short stretch on the main road, take the 'Sentiero del Lago' (Lake Path) to the left of the Rio del Lago. This path leads to the dam that regulates the level of the Lower Lake in about fifteen minutes.
After turning right, you quickly arrive at the Belvedere Restaurant, where boats can be hired. Continuing through the beech and fir forest along a wide path bordering the lake, you pass under the Marinelli erratic boulder on the southern shore. A little further on, you reach a fork where you turn right on a slight incline to cross the moraine cordon separating the Fusine Lakes. The path passes the enormous Pirona erratic boulder (with an estimated volume of 30,000 cubic metres) and, on a slight descent, reaches a clearing on the shore of Lago Superiore.
Here, we turn right along the path, which, with a few ups and downs, follows the shore until we reach a large grassy plain and the car park located south of the lake. Continuing along the lake, you quickly come to a large rock outcrop offering a splendid view of the lake and the surrounding peaks. The path continues along the last inlets, leading back to the clearing crossed earlier.
To return, cross the moraine cordon separating the lakes and, having reached the shore of Lago Inferiore, follow it to the right to the Capanna Edelweiss restaurant and the main lakes road. From here, it is possible to return to the car park following the path taken on the outward journey or directly along the asphalt road.
